Governor Beshear announced the transition June 4. Call centers throughout the state will be able to receive, texts, photos and video, along with improved location mapping and other digital infrastructure upgrades.
Remaining call centers in Kentucky are expected to receive the new systems by the end of 2027.

Louisville leaders announced on July 7 that text-to-911 service is now available in Jefferson County, giving people another way to reach emergency dispatchers when calling is not possible or safe. Mayor Craig Greenburg, D-Louisville, said the expansion is especially important for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, have speech disabilities.

Scarlett's Park Conference is a free annual conference focused on Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and adults with special needs.

Central Kentucky Interpreter Referral (CKIR) will be offering an American Sign Language (ASL) class this fall for community members interested in learning ASL.
Nine weekly classes will be held Tuesday evenings from August 11th to October 6th from 6 PM to 7:15 PM. The classes will be held in Danville, KY. Early Bird pricing ends July 30th. See the flyer for more details.
