August is Back to School Month! With the new school year already underway, it’s a great time to highlight resources that support Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, their families, and educators. We’ve gathered a few helpful resources to share as students settle into their routines and another school year gets into full swing!

The KSD Outreach
The KSD Outreach Educational Consultants are strategically placed across each region of Kentucky to ensure that all families and school districts have access to educational planning information for their students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Clerc Center
The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University offers free resources, information, and training for families and professionals supporting deaf and hard of hearing children from birth through age 21.
Supporting Success for Children with Hearing Loss
Resources, tools, and professional development for educators, families, and specialists supporting children with hearing loss in school settings.
Children (3 to 22) — Center for Parent Information and Resources
A national hub gathering information for families of school-age children, covering special education, school services, and navigating the IEP process.

Kentucky Protection & Advocacy offers practical guidance for families preparing for Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) meetings and writing an effective Individualized Education Program.

Deaf Children Now Can Watch 73 Titles on Netflix with ASL
Netflix has partnered with SignUp Media, an ASL translation company, to provide ASL access for 73 children’s and family titles. Popular selections include Spider-Man: Homecoming, KPop Demon Hunters, Pokémon Horizons, and The Magic School Bus Rides Again, giving Deaf children more opportunities to enjoy content in their primary language. Hands & Voices 2026 Leadership Conference in Colorado
Hands and Voices is celebrating 30 years as an organization with its 22nd Annual Leadership Conference, taking place September 17-19 in Westminster, CO, returning to the state where it all began. This national gathering brings together families, professionals, and leaders committed to to supporting children who are deaf and hard of hearing, with workshops, keynote speakers, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen support systems nationwide.
